Cooking

This course teaches students common cooking terms and how to follow recipes. They are given the opportunity to cook different types of appetizers, entrees and finger foods. They will also learn how to bake.  One of the things the students most enjoy about the class is eating what they cook. 

 


Computers

This course will help students learn essential computer applications and Internet technology skills for personal, academic, and future professional success. Students will effectively use Windows operating systems such as Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint. Most importantly, students will know how to use the Internet ethically to research, communicate, collaborate, and efficiently retrieve information. These computer skills will help them become good digital citizens in creating a positive school culture that supports safe and responsible technology use.


Woodshop

This course teaches our students the skills and techniques that carpenters use.  Students will learn how to properly use the necessary tools to cut, measure, and carve different types of wood. The students will use both their hands and minds to create different projects.  They will start off with easier projects and as their skills advance, their projects will also advance. These are skills that can be used in their everyday life.


Intro to Foreign Language

This is a beginner’s course which offers a cultural and linguistic historical background to provide reasons why we study foreign language.  Students will develop an appreciation of cultural diversity that teaches and encourages respect for other people. The course will also focus the Spanish Language.  At the end of the course, the students will be able to communicate and express confidently.


YEARBOOK

This course provides the students with real world responsibilities by covering school events, meeting deadlines and documenting the school year for the publication of the yearbooks for the whole school. The student will use writing skills, photography, layout and design, time management and communication skills. The yearbook class allows the student the ability to witness and document the different areas of school life that they might not normally experience. At the end of the school year they have a yearbook that they have had a part in producing that shows their hard work through the year.
